Vaccines in Iowa: How are we doing?

As of April 5th, all Iowans are eligible to receive vaccinations. Previously, state guidelines restricted vaccines to high-risk groups such as essential workers, adults aged 65 and up, or people with pre-existing medical conditions. Now that eligibility has expanded, securing an appointment may be a difficult task. (image via Global Gazette)

Iowa Spring Practice: QB’s duel, youth arrives, and defense shines

Not since Iowa beat Illinois 19-10 on Senior Day in 2019 had the Hawkeyes played in front of home fans outside of friends and family. That streak ended Saturday morning as Iowa held it’s first of two open practices this spring with fans in attendance. Fans arrived as early as before 7 AM to get the first chance to see their Hawkeyes in person since November of 2019. Many were pleased with the results, but it would’ve taken a natural disaster to ruin the moods of the black and gold this weekend. “Certainly is great to be back in Kinnick … Continued

IOWA CITY – Entering Week 8 of the 2017 season, the NFL never ceases to amaze its fans. Rookies have grown throughout the first 7 weeks. Some have flourished, others have stalled. The league’s elite continued their stride. The veterans’ show off their leadership as they enter decline. Thus, the cycle of the NFL moves on. Tampa, FL—- Well that didn’t go according to plan. Thousands of you brave Iowa fans traveled down to Tampa in hopes of seeing the Hawkeyes continue their hot streak. Unfortunately, the 2017 Outback Bowl resembled last year’s Rose Bowl where the Stanford Cardinals overwhelmed Iowa by a score of 45-16. I know it’s not what you had hoped for and it’s certainly easy to pick out the negatives by pointing the finger at the coaching staff and players. Even in the 30-3 blowout, there are a few positives to focus on. We have to stop for a minute and recognize … Continued

STATE COLLEGE, Pa— Well I had dibs on writing the article about the inspiring Iowa comeback but unfortunately I have to write this one instead. I’ll start by sharing what Kirk Ferentz had to say after the game. “There wasn’t much good out there tonight,” said Ferentz. That seems like an understatement at this point. The Iowa defense had a simple yet challenging task here tonight. Don’t let Saquon Barkley outside and limit the yards after contact. The Hawkeye defense failed miserably with both of these tasks Saturday night inside Beaver Stadium. Barkley entered the game as the Big Ten’s … Continued

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Northwestern came to Iowa City on Saturday October 1st with the least-efficient offense in the Big Ten through their first four games of the season. You would not have known it after watching their offense work against the Iowa defense. In their 38-31 victory over Iowa, the Wildcats gained 198 yards in the rushing game and 164 through the air, with the bulk of those yards going to just two players. Justin Jackson led all rushers with 26 attempts for 171 net yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats. No other Wildcat gained more than 19 … Continued
