This month, Johnson County Democrats are conducting “listening tours” to connect with students at the University of Iowa, consisting of various extracurricular and undergraduate-based organizations and events. The listening tour works as an open forum for students to describe their needs, goals, and priorities when it comes to both elected officials and the Democratic Party.

The “Duck” Hunt for Playoffs Falls Short

In a rain-soaked showdown at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa’s playoff hopes slipped away as Oregon edged the Hawkeyes 18-16 on a last-second field goal. Despite a thrilling 93-yard touchdown drive led by Mark Gronowski, the Ducks’ steady ground game and clutch kicking sealed Iowa’s heartbreak.

In the midst of sports these days, it seems as though the next scandal is just around the corner.  We’ve seen it in college football with recruiting, certainly with what happened at Penn State, and the numerous steroid controversies that have riddled the MLB over the past 15 years.  After all of these scandals, I have found myself wondering, what is going to happen next?  Over this Thanksgiving break, a friend and I were discussing this at length, trying to determine which scandal that we could remember being the worst.  Was it the Kobe Bryant sex scandal?  Was it Spygate?  … Continued

After Kentucky won the NCAA Tournament last spring, it was unanimous that Anthony Davis would be selected first overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. The first half wasn’t exactly the prettiest thing anybody watching the Iowa-Central Michigan game on Monday night at Carver Hawkeye Arena had seen. The Hawkeyes struggled to score in the first half, shooting only 35 percent from the field and 20 percent from behind the arc. Fortunately for the Hawkeyes, so did the Chippewas, who shot only 28 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc.
