Race Report – Aragon GP

October has ushered in a new group of challengers and left the forgone conclusions out in the cold, and nothing could be more exciting.

Week 6 of college football proved once again that the top teams are not invincible. This weekend Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and UCLA all lost their games, making it the first time that five teams in the top eight lost in the same week. The chance that an undefeated team with make it to the inaugural College Football Playoff has now gone down dramatically. Two of these losses were to unranked teams, with Oregon falling 31-24 to Arizona and UCLA losing in the final minute to Utah. UCLA even had a chance to win in the final minute since they … Continued

The most prestigious of the annual individual player awards in the NBA is, without question, the Most Valuable Player award. This season’s crop of candidates for the Maurice Podoloff MVP trophy include the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul, to name a few. However, I’m more intrigued by the outcome of another annual award, the Comeback Player of the Year. After a season (and postseason) full of devastating long-term injuries to star players throughout the league, the 2013-2014 Comeback Player of the Year race will quite possibly be more thrilling than the MVP battle. After Wednesday night’s victory against the Edmonton Oilers, the Chicago Blackhawks have clinched this year’s Presidents’ Trophy. Two of these organizations being the powerhouse teams the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins. Wednesday night early predictions were made that Iginla would go to the Boston Bruins. TSN’s Aaron Ward even initially reported that Iginla was indeed going to Boston. Meanwhile, after midnight the official news came out that Jarome Iginla would be joining the Pittsburgh Penguins. After this trade statement was reported, … Continued

When the NHL returned in January, no one knew exactly what to expect. With the season being cut from eighty-two games to forty-eight games, anything could happen. Which teams would rise to the top and who would fall under the new, hectic schedule? One team in particular took main stage as the season began. The Chicago Blackhawks are usually a dominant force in the league, but this season they took that title to new heights. They won their first six games of the season and in their seventh game took a loss in a shootout. They again lost in a … Continued

The season has finally gotten to the half way point and it has been nicer to some teams more than others. There have been a lot of ups and downs this season half way through, but there are some teams that have not gotten it done. These four teams make my list of teams that desperately need a change of pace in the second half. 1. Los Angeles Lakers Alright, I will say this topic has been beat over the head well after it died, but that does not change the fact that the struggling Lakers have a great deal to improve … Continued
