On November 12, Nuovo Testamento graced Iowa City with their music live at The James Theater as a part of The Englert Theatre’s Track Zero concert series. I attended the concert that night, fully ready to boost a move myself.
Local Iowa City band Twin River Revivalist put on a great show last Halloweekend. With songs that can charge up any crowd, their next show at Elray’s this Friday, Dec. 5th is sure to be a good one.
I sat down with multi-instrumentalists Jano Rix before his gig with The Wood Brothers at The Englert Theatre on November 12th. Taking a beat to touch on what shaped him artistically, his favorite illustrators, and the impact dancing has had in his adult life, Jano let us into how he makes a chaotic world feel focused and comfortable.

In a rain-soaked showdown at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa’s playoff hopes slipped away as Oregon edged the Hawkeyes 18-16 on a last-second field goal. Despite a thrilling 93-yard touchdown drive led by Mark Gronowski, the Ducks’ steady ground game and clutch kicking sealed Iowa’s heartbreak.
After a tough loss to Purdue in West Lafayette, the Iowa Hawkeyes looked to get their season back on track with their home opener against the Northwestern Wildcats. Iowa started out strong, but crumbed after an early lead against the Wildcats, losing 21-20.
The last time the Iowa Hawkeyes took the field for a Big Ten football game was when Keith Duncan booted a 48-yard field goal to beat Nebraska in Memorial Stadium. That was nearly 11 months ago, and the Hawkeyes really showed it on Saturday.

When people will look back on the history of Iowa football, June 15th, 2020 probably won’t resonate with them right away. But, make no mistake, today has been a historic day for the Iowa program. Growing up in the state of Iowa and a follower of the Iowa football program, never in my wildest imaginations would we be sitting here today having the conversation that has run rampant across the state on this Saturday. The Iowa football program has alleged issues with racial disparities. Maybe that’s me being a naive, 21-year old kid. Coming off a 26-20 win against Purdue on Saturday, the mood was lighter around the Hansen Football Complex on Tuesday compared to the previous week. It’s certainly been a long two and half weeks for Iowa fans. With tight losses to Michigan and Penn State and poor offensive play in both games, the fanbase is slowly starting to wonder if maybe the Hawkeyes weren’t what they were made out to be throughout the preseason.
