Opinion: The University of Iowa must do more to protect its marching band and performers

When a student dies under the university’s watch, it should become the concern of the entire student body. Sitting at the Blackhawks game a few weeks ago, it occurred to me that the United Center or “Madhouse on Madison” has become – over the last few years – not only one of the best arenas atmosphere-wise in the NHL, but also in all of sports as well. The number one selection in the upcoming NFL draft was already a bit of a question mark. It seemed that the general consensus a few months ago was that it would be West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. Lately, it was more 50/50 between Geno Smith and Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel. Now, things have been shaken up even further.
