For nine days, an unlikely cast of Hawkeyes made the world believe. They made themselves believe. The team of dreamers, and an unforgettable run in March.

The Men’s Iowa Swimming and Diving team has come a long way since it’s NCAA recruiting violations, near termination of the program, and NCAA scholarship probations. My how things have changed. Four weeks ago, Hawkeye fans were down. The Hawks suffered, arguably, the worst loss in the Ferentz era after falling 32-31 to Central Michigan. The Hawkeyes season looked about as hopeless as a snowball in hell. But the Hawkeyes really don’t make sense do they?

At the annual NFL draft this past April, the Jacksonville Jaguars shockingly selected punter Bryan Anger from Cal. This prompted NFL Network analyst Rich Eisen to seemingly mock the selection – though he has since gone on record saying he liked the selection – and, memorably, declared Bryan Anger a weapon and said “punters are people, too!” Jokingly or not, those words may be the proper way to describe Anger.
