Iowa’s black and gold grapplers discuss the upcoming Cliff Keen National Duals this weekend in Iowa City.
I want my message to be stern and direct: Retire Roy Marble Sr.’s jersey at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and do it now. As we are all unfortunately aware, one of Iowa’s greatest and most recognizable athletes in any sport is currently battling stage four cancer. We all hope for the best, but as is often the case, life can grievously be too short. With tragic news comes incredible opportunity. Let’s create a moment – a happy ending to a sad plot. Before the inevitable happens, we can give generations of audiences, an assortment of a surrounding cast, and the two main … Continued

The (8-2) Iowa Hawkeyes and the Alcorn State Braves (1-6) tipped off tonight inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Aaron White bobble head night. Entering tonight’s game, the Hawkeyes, as a 30-point favorite, looked to get their 400th win inside Carver-Hawkeye, and they did just that, defeating the Braves 67-44. Aaron White did what he normally does, leading the Hawkeyes in scoring with 15 points, getting nine of those points from the free throw line. “He’s got an incredible ability to get there in a variety of different ways,” head coach Fran McCaffery said. “We can post him up, we can get him … Continued

This afternoon, Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta along with head coach Kirk Ferentz, accepted a bowl invitation to play the Tennessee Volunteers (6-6) in TaxSlayer Bowl on January 2nd at 2:30pm central time at EverBank Field. “It’s a thrill for us to be going to the TaxSlayer Bowl,” Barta said. “This is a great opportunity for our students, and for our seniors to have another opportunity to go out and play and play against a historic program.” Iowa’s name got thrown around in the mix for a couple of … Continued

IOWA CITY- The Hawkeyes (3-2) overcame a slow start to close out the Pepperdine Waves (3-1) on Monday night at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Iowa scored the first basket of the game and never trailed as they came away with a 72-61 victory. Aaron White yet again paved the way for the Hawkeyes, leading Iowa with 17 points. The senior added nine rebounds and an assist. The post size for Iowa proved to be too much as Pepperdine could not quite overcome the early deficit. The Waves hung with the Hawkeyes throughout, trailing by just five at halftime and slimming the … Continued
