The Iowa Hawkeye football team (7-5) is headed to Jacksonville, Florida. This afternoon, Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta along with head coach Kirk Ferentz, accepted a bowl invitation to play the Tennessee Volunteers (6-6) in TaxSlayer Bowl on January 2nd at 2:30pm central time at EverBank Field. “It’s a thrill for us to be going to the TaxSlayer Bowl,” Barta said. “This is a great opportunity for our students, and for our seniors to have another opportunity to go out and play and play against a historic program.” Iowa’s name got thrown around in the mix for a couple of … Continued

IOWA CITY- After traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C. and upsetting the 12th ranked Tar Heels on the road, the Iowa Hawkeyes (6-2) looked to win their 5th straight when the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers (0-7) visited Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Sparked by Peter Jok’s two three pointers and an Aaron White thunderous dunk, Iowa got out to a 20 to 6 lead, which came on a 20-0 Hawkeye run. In the words of Iowa’s head wrestling coach Tom Brands, the hawkeyes went through a “trial by baptism” tonight in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The #1 ranked Hawks took the challenge head on though and routed the #15 Iowa State Cyclones 28-8. It was an intense and exciting night. Even though the team score ended up a little lop-sided, seven of the ten matches were settled with decisions. IOWA CITY- The Iowa Hawkeyes (4-2) forced a poor shooting night to top the Northern Illinois Huskies (2-1) by a score of 70-49 in front of a crowd of 14,357 on Wednesday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Iowa lead was sparked by an early 16-0 Hawkeye run, capped off by an Aaron White dunk with 11:17 remaining in the first half to give the Hawkeyes a 20-6 lead. IOWA CITY- The Hawkeyes (3-2) overcame a slow start to close out the Pepperdine Waves (3-1) on Monday night at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Iowa scored the first basket of the game and never trailed as they came away with a 72-61 victory. Aaron White yet again paved the way for the Hawkeyes, leading Iowa with 17 points.
