The third edition of Minnesota Yacht Club has wrapped was a resounding success. Through sweltering temperatures, heat lightning, and rain drops, none of it phased the over 35,000 fans who came each day to Harriet Regional Park. Celebrating music and summer on the water, it continues to be a highlight for the thousands of Minnesotans and the travelers. Friday Pat Kennedy is a name will be known far and wide very soon. Hailing from Boston, and a recent graduate of Berklee, Kennedy dances the oh so fine line of bringing classic cassette rock and roll with a modern push. Through … Continued

IOWA CITY, Iowa – After a sluggish start against Maryland, the Iowa men’s basketball team finally found some energy that had been lacking since they suffered a lopsided loss at Northwestern on Sunday. Thanks in-part to a 10-0 run in the middle of the second half, the Hawkeyes were able to erase a nine-point halftime deficit and take a three-point lead with just over five minutes to play. The comeback attempt came up a little short, however, as the #25 Maryland Terrapins held on for an 84-76 victory on the road at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game looked like it could … Continued
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Just two weeks ago, the Hawkeyes and Boilermakers hit the hardwood to open up Big Ten conference play at Purdue’s Mackey Arena. Then-15th-ranked Purdue took it to the young Hawkeyes, dominating them for an easy 89-67 victory. This time, the series shifted to Iowa City, and it didn’t look like the game was played between the same two teams. In an instant classic that could change the direction of the Hawkeyes’ season, the lead changed 20 times and every big shot was followed by an even bigger one. After the first half went back and forth, … Continued
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Ten points, eight rebounds, five blocks, and 23 minutes played. Would you believe me if I told you that stat line belonged to Dom Uhl? After scoring just six points in the team’s first three Big Ten games, the junior from Frankfurt, Germany came off the bench and scored in double figures for the first time in almost a whole calendar year. His efforts helped push the Hawkeyes past Rutgers by a score of 68-62 on Sunday night as the team improved to 2-2 in conference play. Each of Uhl’s points carried significant weight and most … Continued
Tampa, FL—- Well that didn’t go according to plan. Thousands of you brave Iowa fans traveled down to Tampa in hopes of seeing the Hawkeyes continue their hot streak. Unfortunately, the 2017 Outback Bowl resembled last year’s Rose Bowl where the Stanford Cardinals overwhelmed Iowa by a score of 45-16. I know it’s not what you had hoped for and it’s certainly easy to pick out the negatives by pointing the finger at the coaching staff and players. Even in the 30-3 blowout, there are a few positives to focus on. We have to stop for a minute and recognize … Continued
Austin Bramley and Camden Palmisano discuss their first few days in Tampa.
The Hawkeyes throttled the Delaware State Hornets last night 89-57 to finish up non-conference play with an 8-5 record, and they seem to have gained some momentum as they head into Big Ten Conference play. After going through a four-game losing streak and having a complete makeover in the starting lineup, winning five in a row before facing a top-15 team in Purdue seems pretty good for the young, but talented, Hawkeyes. “Considering where we were, yeah,” said head coach Fran McCaffery when asked if he liked where the team stands at the end of non-conference play. Since McCaffery changed … Continued
Iowa City IA- Things have not been going well for the Iowa Men’s Basketball Team lately, who were losers of there last four before coming into Monday night game against Stetson. But the Iowa Hawkeyes (4-5) turned up the defensive intensity to get a 95-68 win over the Stetson Hatters (4-6). The Hatters shot 35% for the whole game and only shot 30% in second half. “That was a total team effort on the defensive side of the floor,” McCaffery said. “The players on floor along with the guys on the bench had the energy we need to bring every single game.” … Continued
Champaign IL—Following their shocking upset of the Michigan Wolverines, the Iowa Hawkeyes traveled to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini ( 3-8,2-6). The weather, 35 degrees and wind gusts up to 28 MPH, played right into the game plan of the Hawkeyes ( 7-4, 4-3). A heavy dosage of the running attack was deployed and it did not disappoint. Both teams started out slow resulting in a scoreless first quarter. It was the specials teams unit that helped spark the Hawkeyes. Senior receiver, Riley McCarron, put the Iowa on the board when he returned a punt 55 yards for a … Continued
