NewDad on homesickness, fame and sacrifice in their latest album: Altar

Amidst 2025’s exciting alternative rock scene, Irish trio NewDad released their second studio album on September 19, Altar. Expanding on punk and soft rock elements from their first studio album Madra, the band also pulls from shoegaze with the explosive, distorted guitars and airy vocals that build the new record’s atmosphere. 

Coming into this season, the “sophomore slump” question was on everyone’s mind for Johnny Manziel. He came out of nowhere last season and led Texas A&M to a 11-2 season, including a 41-13 dismantling of Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. He also managed to break SEC records set by Cam Newton and Tim Tebow, as a freshman mind you. But this year there seems to be a new “Johnny Football” over in Tallahassee. On Sunday, November 17, 2013 Jimmie Johnson won his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title.  Johnson is one NASCAR Sprint Cup championship away from tying Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for the most NASCAR championships of all time.
