Around the Big Ten: Week 10

It’s been a minute since we last checked in on the Big Ten, but a few general trends have continued over the past couple of weeks. Michigan and Oregon keep spiraling, UCLA and Indiana keep winning, and here in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes seem to be more of a week-to-week thing. Let’s check out some of the biggest games coming up in this first weekend of November.

Digging into the park factors, other than Penn State, there were no large changes that caused a park to go from a pitcher’s park to a hitter’s park and vice versa. They went from a 97 park factor(slight pitcher’s park) to a 116 park factor(hitter-friendly). Nebraska is no longer the most hitter-friendly park and Purdue remains as an extreme pitcher’s park with a 63 park factor rating. Iowa Baseball Builds Off A Great Weekend

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Coming off a successful weekend, Iowa Baseball grabbed another victory on Tuesday to go 18-9(.667) on the season. Recap of last weekend: The Hawkeyes’ bats last weekend were again hot, as they swept UNLV at home after a 3-0 win on Friday, and two late scoring rallies on Saturday 6-5,and 7-6. They tallied up 16 runs total outscoring the Rebels 16-11 for the weekend. Hawkeyes Heat Up in Minneapolis

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Hawkeyes were playing at full capacity going (2-1) this weekend at the DQ Classic. The Hawkeyes had a closer than wanted (7-6) win against Hawaii, a surprising (7-3) win against Oral Roberts, and a close (6-3) loss against Minnesota.   Weekend Summary:   The first game of the weekend against Hawaii featured the Iowa batters once again being on fire as they chalked up a season high 17 hits and 7 runs with 2 HRs. Hawkeyes Find An Improved Offense In Alabama

IOWA CITY, Iowa – After a successful (2-1) weekend in Alabama, the Hawkeyes are now officially above .500. Going into the week, Iowa was (1-2) hoping to recover from last weekend’s disappointing series with University of South Florida. The Hawkeyes did just that with a powerful win over Loras College on Wednesday, with an even better chance to improve at the Hoover Classic.
