As I walked out of Van Allen Hall after class at 2 pm on April 11th, I passed by the Blue Moose, to see girls camped out, in the rain, waiting in line for the doors to open at 5:30. This did not shock me at all however. It didn’t shock me because I knew who was playing there that night. Whatever it was that plagued the Hawkeyes at the plate through the early stretch of the conference schedule lifted last weekend in Evanston, IL. The Hawkeyes scored 3o runs in the three games to win two out of three and win their first three-game series of the conference season. The Wildcats scored more than their fair share of runs in the series as well, plating 32 runs total for the weekend. Yesterday during the annual running of the Boston Marathon, two bombs exploded at the finish line. Chaos ensued at 2:45 p.m. as runners and spectators fled from the scene. The normally joyous occasion is now the scene of an attack. The two bombs, roughly 100 yards apart, caused two deaths and roughly 90 injuries. Police have searched the area for evidence to a motive behind these attacks. Numerous suspicious packages were found around the area but findings have showed that this is due to people fleeing the scene.
