Hawkeyes Fall in Three Sets

The Iowa volleyball team came into Saturday’s game with Indiana looking to snap a nine game losing streak. The Hoosiers also were fighting a losing streak, entering Iowa City on a two-matck skid. It was the Indiana streak that came to an end, as the Hoosiers topped the Hawkeyes, 25-21, 25-23, 25-16. The Hawkeyes took a 3-1 lead in an opening set that would tip back and forth throughout. Manchester United Football Club is having a successful season with a motivated team. The team is located out of Manchester, England. In the past Manchester United has been a successful team, but this year they seem to be soaring above the other teams. Their last game was against Arsenal on November 3, where Manchester United came out on top with a 2-1 victory. The two goals were scored by Robin Van Persie and Patrice Evra. If Iowa fans were looking for a key bounce back win at Northwestern, they are going to be dissapointed with this outcome. The Hawkeyes were defeated by Northwestern at all facets of the game; offense, defense, and special teams. Iowa showed fight at the end of the game coming back from a 28-3 deficit, only to have their comeback fall short on an overthrown James Vandenberg pass that landed out of bounds on 4th down. The panda bear’s diet consists entirely of devouring bamboo sticks. Last night, however, The Panda feasted on baseballs. Two Justin Verlander fastballs.Even an Al Albuquerque slider. The Kung Fu Panda, the roly-poly, lovable third baseman stole the spotlight in Game 1. This was supposed to be Verlander’s time, Miguel Cabrera’s time. Instead, it was Panda time. Hawkeye Volleyball Falls to No. 1 Penn State

The Iowa women’s volleyball came into Wednesday’s game against Penn State looking to snap a five game losing streak. However, with the nation’s No. 1 team walking into Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a team riding a 15-game winning streak, this would not be the night. The Hawkeyes fell to Penn State 25-15, 25-19, 25-15. In the first set, the Lions came out roaring behind an efficient offensive attack. The Nittany Lions had 13 kills and just one unforced error in 24 attempts.
