Concert Review: Jefferson Starship, September 21st

Jefferson Starship landed in Iowa City’s Englert Theater on Sunday the 21st of September for a spectacular show. As the show began, the projector took us through time, introducing the band’s long history and members that shaped their legacy, with pictures and videos eliciting our minds’ imagination to the past lives of the other 99% of the room. It. Was. AWESOME.

NewDad on homesickness, fame and sacrifice in their latest album: Altar

Amidst 2025’s exciting alternative rock scene, Irish trio NewDad released their second studio album on September 19, Altar. Expanding on punk and soft rock elements from their first studio album Madra, the band also pulls from shoegaze with the explosive, distorted guitars and airy vocals that build the new record’s atmosphere. 

The Iowa men’s basketball team survived a scare from the Gardner-Webb University Runnin’ Bulldogs 65-56 after trailing by 23 in the first half. The Hawkeyes started the second half with a 13-0 run and outscored Gardner-Webb 47-18 in the 2nd half. The struggle from the free-throw line continues though, Iowa was 21-32 from the line on the game and is shooting 66% on the season. The first half saw Devyn Marble and Mike Gesell held scoreless and the Hawkeyes commit 11 turnovers. They only had five total field goals at halftime.
