The “Duck” Hunt for Playoffs Falls Short

In a rain-soaked showdown at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa’s playoff hopes slipped away as Oregon edged the Hawkeyes 18-16 on a last-second field goal. Despite a thrilling 93-yard touchdown drive led by Mark Gronowski, the Ducks’ steady ground game and clutch kicking sealed Iowa’s heartbreak.

On Monday night the biggest game in recent Iowa State basketball history took place, as the number six team in the country, and favorite to win the Big 12 Conference, the Kansas Jayhawks visited Hilton Coliseum in Ames. The game was a nationally televised game on ESPN’s “Big Monday”, and what made this game different than every other year when the Cyclones play host to the Jayhawks was the overwhelming amount of optimism, especially after earlier this year the when Iowa State had Kansas on the ropes in Lawrence, when a last second three point ball hoisted up by KU … Continued

The season has finally gotten to the half way point and it has been nicer to some teams more than others. There have been a lot of ups and downs this season half way through, but there are some teams that have not gotten it done. These four teams make my list of teams that desperately need a change of pace in the second half. 1. Los Angeles Lakers Alright, I will say this topic has been beat over the head well after it died, but that does not change the fact that the struggling Lakers have a great deal to improve … Continued

-By Patrick Behof As February Frenzy turns into March Madness in the craziest college basketball season that I can remember, we see that it is the usual suspects like Indiana, Kansas, and Michigan St, and a few surprises like the Miami Hurricanes atop the rankings and on the minds of college basketball fans. The one team however that no one seems to be talking about is the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Despite being both a mid major and national power for the last decade and making 14 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, Gonzaga has still not earned their due respect from the rest … Continued
