Magic 87 Pacers 97: When you see Indiana on your schedule make sure you get your jumper right the day before, Roy Hibbert has a reserved parking spot in the lane this NBA season. Last night Hibbert not only blocked shots he physically stopped opponents with much more momentum then him in their tracks with all SEVEN of his opening night blocks. The University of Iowa woman’s basketball team started their 2013-2014 season Friday night hosting the Hawkeye Challenge at Carver-Hawkeye arena. Iowa faced off against UC Riverside a team from California looking to upset the Hawks on their own court. The game was fast paced and both teams had their equal share of mistakes that could have been crucial in how the game flowed. Sophomore Nicole Smith is going to be sidelined after tearing her meniscus during the Hawkeyes exhibition win over Concordia. Smith didn’t seem to visibly injure it on the court, but according to Lisa Bluder the injury is in the “five percent that has to be sutured and that means the recovery process is longer.” The news of Nicole Smith’s injury is disheartening, especially considering the impact it will have on her season.
