This is not the way it was supposed to go. Not with this team. But such is life. Grief and glee. The dichotomy of college sports.

The Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4) have accepted a bid to play in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 against the LSU Tigers (9-3). The game will take place in Raymond Jones Stadium and be televised on ESPN at 11 CT. The last time these two team’s met was in the 2005 Capital One Bowl where Iowa won on a last second hail mary from Drew Tate to Warren Holloway, here’s the link to one of the most memorable plays in Iowa history. This is going to be interesting. Recently inspired by Mark Freie’s article, debating the legitimacy of NASCAR as a sport, I began to wonder, is one of my favorite guilty pleasures considered a sport? With many already giving Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning the National Football League’s most valuable player award, it is forgotten just how important Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been.
