Iowa Hawkeyes to take on LSU Tigers in Outback Bowl

The Iowa Hawkeyes (8-4) have accepted a bid to play in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 against the LSU Tigers (9-3). The game will take place in Raymond Jones Stadium and be televised on ESPN at 11 CT.

The last time these two team’s met was in the 2005 Capital One Bowl where Iowa won on a last second hail mary from Drew Tate to Warren Holloway, here’s the link to one of the most memorable plays in Iowa history.

LSU comes into the game without their starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who they lost to a torn ACL. They have losses this season to Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama.

Iowa comes in to this game with a 4-1 overall record against SEC teams in bowl games under Head Coach Kirk Ferentz.

LSU is currently ranked 16th in the BCS standings. Iowa is currently not ranked in the BCS poll but is receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches poll.
