Gary Bettman has been the commissioner of the National Hockey since 1993. Under his power, the league has had two previous lockouts, one during the 1994-1995 season and the other being the 2004-2005 season. The end of the 2012 season signals the end of an era for the Houston Astros. The Iowa men’s and women’s basketball teams will make their first public appearance of the season on Oct. 19 in the Black and Gold Blowout, which will take place in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The event begins at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m. More details on the season-opening appearance were released Wednesday by the UI Athletics Department.
