On a regular Thursday in March, I discovered underscores while scrolling on Tiktok. I worked my way through her discography and eventually fell down a rabbit hole of hyperpop. Her take on electronic and pop music is deeply refreshing and her captivating sound is definitely one to pay attention to.

As I walked out of Van Allen Hall after class at 2 pm on April 11th, I passed by the Blue Moose, to see girls camped out, in the rain, waiting in line for the doors to open at 5:30. This did not shock me at all however. It didn’t shock me because I knew who was playing there that night. Track of the Week: “Big Jet Plane” by Angus and Julia Stone

Forming in 2006, Julia and Angus Stone are a brother-sister duo from Australia. The two write separately and then go on to collaborate for creating harmonies and structure. Angus is noted to have more of a Paul Simon or Damien Rice sounding voice where as Julia has a soft, lullaby-esque sound to her that’s utterly captivating.
