Through sweltering temperatures, heat lightning, and rain drops, none of it phased the over 35,000 fans who came each day to Harriet Regional Park. As always, the Major League Baseball offseason has brought about several marquee free agent races. In December, former New York Yankee and perennial All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano signed with the Seattle Mariners for a 10-year deal worth a whopping $240 million, making it the fourth-largest contract in MLB history. This holds true as a player, and as a fan. 162 games is a long (almost too long) season and since we are only two weeks in, overreaction should be kept to a minimum. Iowa Baseball, Softball Begin 2013 With Fanfare

After a couple of months off for the lull between semesters the men and women of the University of Iowa’s baseball and softball teams took part in public events to introduce the coaches and athletes to the fans.
