Interview: KRUI With The Plain White T’s

At When We Were Young 2025, fellow Chicago area natives Plain White T’s sat down with me as we discussed how the local scene has changed, their tour with We The Kings, and how Las Vegas scares us all the slightest bit. We started the conversation out by sharing a mutual love of Death Cab for Cutie:

Last night the Hawkeyes Women’s basketball team defeated the Colorado Bison at Carver-Hawkeye Arena 80-62 to advance to the Elite Eight in the WNIT bracket. The Hawkeyes benefitted from 49% shooting from the floor and 36% from deep. The big contributors for the Hawkeyes were Senior guard Ally Disterhoft and Sophomore center Megan Gustafson. Disterhoft had 15 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals while Gustafson had 12 points and 8 rebounds. IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Hawkeyes’ NCAA tournament push fell short in Washington D.C. with a 95-73 loss to Indiana. Despite Iowa not making the cut to get into March Madness, fans are still going to be locked to their TV’s for the next three weekends. CBS reviled the field of 68 Sunday afternoon, leading most college basketball fans around the country to fill out their brackets. Video games in the recent age have had a very small number of companies control the entire sports market. EA Sports and 2K Sports are juggernauts in their own rights. But there was once a company that made games that were simple, fun and uber-competitive: Humongous Entertainment. They made “Pajama Sam” and “Putt-Putt” as well as many other franchises. IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Hawkeyes were playing at full capacity going (2-1) this weekend at the DQ Classic. The Hawkeyes had a closer than wanted (7-6) win against Hawaii, a surprising (7-3) win against Oral Roberts, and a close (6-3) loss against Minnesota.   Weekend Summary:   The first game of the weekend against Hawaii featured the Iowa batters once again being on fire as they chalked up a season high 17 hits and 7 runs with 2 HRs.
