A celebration took place in Chicago this September. The 20th edition of Riot Fest has come and passed, and while still covered in a layer of dirt and sweat, next year’s edition can’t come soon enough.

Chicago Bears Extend Win Streak to Four with 26-14 Victory Over Saints

Soldier Field finally had something to celebrate again, as the Chicago Bears snapped their eight-game losing streak to the New Orleans Saints with a 26-14 win. Powered by a dominant defense and resurgent run game, the Bears overcame offensive struggles to notch their fourth straight win and move to 4-2 on the season.

Iowa City, Iowa – Head coach Mark Dantonio said earlier this week that Michigan State was a better team coming out of a bye week. That certainly proved true as the Spartans earned a hard-fought 26-14 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday afternoon at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa’s offense netted just 26 yards on its first five possessions of the game. Going three-and-out four times and the other ending in a Jake Rudock interception. Spartan’s cornerback Darqueze Denard had two picks on the afternoon, including one with 5:09 left in the game that all but ended the Hawkeye’s chances. Michigan … Continued

Head coach Lane Kiffin was fired in the early hours of Sunday morning, not long after USC suffered an embarrassing 62-41 loss at the hands of Arizona State Saturday night at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. In the game, the Sun Devils put up a staggering 612 yards of offense, and the Trojans committed four turnovers. The setback proved to be the final straw for Kiffin, as USC officials didn’t even allow the team to return back to campus before issuing the decision, but instead called Kiffin off the team bus following their arrival at LAX and relieved him of … Continued

The “Big 3” welcome rally fiasco seems like decades ago right now. The one where LeBron James basically declared that the Miami Heat were going to go down as the best team in NBA history, and for that he was the punch line for numerous jokes. Well he is the one laughing now because the Heat are eyeing an unprecedented 3-peat, which will put them down as a dynasty in the NBA record books. Just as it seemed like the Heat were wrapping up their championship parade, NBA Training Camp begins the first day of October. Of course, as one can imagine, all eyes are on the most scrutinized team … Continued

We all remember Trent Richardson in his Alabama jersey looking like Herschel Walker reincarnated, but don’t we remember Mark Ingram and Eddie Lacy appearing that way too? Could it be that these admittedly talented Tide backs are the product of the exceedingly talented lines they’ve run behind? (I mean at the moment TJ Yeldon has looked pretty dominant too). Sure they were impressive in college, but for where they were drafted and the hype surrounding them backs like Richardson and Ingram are starting to show that many talented runners can look good when their college O-lines create gaps that the … Continued

In the same way a four-year starter for the Iowa football team wishes to end their career with a fulfilling sense of victory and accomplishment, I too want to leave the University of Iowa with something more than the intangible Hawkeye pride I’ve already possessed for years… I want bragging rights. In the context of football season, (holy porkchop, we’re almost a month into the schedule) bragging rights are represented through traveling trophies designated for each respective rivalry game. (Yes, I realize the ultimate prize for FBS football teams is the coveted glass ball awarded to the BCS national champions, followed by … Continued

This day in age it is hard to stand out in the overcrowded job market, especially if you lack a certain degree of “professional” work experience that most recruiters look for on a resume. I am one of those people who lacks “professional” work experience, but not because I am lazy or didn’t know what I wanted to do, it’s because I was committed to the highest level of division-1 competitive sports. I was told growing up that sports would “open doors” for me because I am not like the typical student and have the ability to differentiate myself from … Continued

Let’s forget for a moment that the Minnesota Vikings came into their home matchup against the Cleveland Browns 0-2 and applaud the Browns for the upset they pulled off in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. When two winless teams meet up, it is hard to call the result an upset, but in the case it is the perfect description. It is no secret that the being a fan of any Cleveland team is not easy, especially when it comes to the Browns.  2013 is proving to be more of the same Browns fans. The team started the season 0-2 and … Continued

It is not even the start of the NBA season and the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are already at each other’s head. With the Nets acquiring Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Jason Terry, and Andrei Kirilenko this Knicks and Nets rivalry is just heating up. These two teams cannot even wait until the start of the NBA preseason to start running their mouth. It all started with Nets new comer Paul Pierce. In an interview Pierce was reported saying: “I think the hate for the Knicks has grown a little. Everybody knows how much I disliked the Knicks when … Continued
