During the new Stop/Time Festival on April 4th, I had the pleasure of attending a reading by acclaimed poet Danez Smith at the Englert Theatre.

After listening to a lot of jazz over the past week, culminating in an amazing performance by renowned trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and the PUBLIQuartet last Friday at the Stop/Time Festival presented by Hancher Auditorium, I’ve come to the conclusion that most jazz isn’t meant for an audience at all.
Scope Productions x Track Zero brought Lip Critic back to Iowa City. With the band’s unique and unconventional blend of music styles, it’s no surprise that they’ve quickly gained the cult following of punks, raver’s, alt kids, hip hop heads and music lovers alike all across Iowa.

Iowa’s Black Student Union showcased the University’s talent before Ravyn Lenae and Noname graced the IMU’s ballroom stage.
One of Iowa City’s newest festivals is only a couple weeks away, and KRUI is pumped to attend! Witching Hour, according to the festival’s website, highlight’s the “unknown, creative process, and new work.” During its second year, Witching Hour features a diverse lineup ranging from multi-media workshops to comedy shows to cinematic adventures.
