After listening to a lot of jazz over the past week, culminating in an amazing performance by renowned trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and the PUBLIQuartet last Friday at the Stop/Time Festival presented by Hancher Auditorium, I’ve come to the conclusion that most jazz isn’t meant for an audience at all.

San Diego’s iconic blackgaze band, Deafheaven will be performing tonight at the Capitol Theater as part of their tour following the release of their most recent album, Lonely People With Power.
Pokey’s Fest 2 takes place in Iowa City this weekend from June 7th to June 9th. The DIY punk music festival features many Iowa City bands, along with performers from elsewhere in the Midwest, and a welcoming communal vibe.
KRUI expands into creating video content with two new pieces: a back alley interview with Chat Pile, and an interview with Track Zero artist Sen Morimoto.
