By Kif Richmann Mallory Husz committed to play volleyball at Iowa under Cindy Fredrick.  When Fredrick was released from the program, it sent Mallory’s life careening.   [audio:http://krui.fm/assets/sports//Huszfinal.MP3]   The Iowa women’s volleyball team is now getting set for spring competition, and Mallory, now a senior, will be one of five returning starters.  Although Iowa finished 7-21 in 2010, the Hawkeyes expect big gains led by Husz and other experienced leaders.

By Kif Richmann With the NCAA tournament on TV, and Iowa baseball, tennis, and volleyball in town, there should be plenty of action to keep any sports fan entertained this weekend.   On Campus: Hawkeye men’s tennis hosts Ohio State on Friday. Since mid-February, the Hawkeye men have won 5 of the last seven matches. Ohio State, however, will test that run, as the #4 Buckeyes have a Big Ten best 16-2 overall record.  OSU also boasts Blaz Rola, the #5 player in the NCAA and most recent men’s tennis Big Ten athlete of the week.  The match is scheduled … Continued
