I think the Hawkeyes cleared up any doubt that people had about their 11-2 start to the season, unfortunately for them, it came in a loss to nationally ranked Indiana, 69-65. The young Hawkeyes appeared ready for the #5 ranked Hoosiers right from the opening tip as Adam Woodbury shut down Cody Zeller, a potential Player of the Year candidate in the NCAA, on the first two possessions of the game.  Woodbury seemed to be a rock on the defensive end early in the game, however it was a different story on the offensive side.  He missed 2 shots from … Continued

It’s hard to imagine that this time last year the NBA was just getting underway.  Already the story lines are better than ever and we’re only about 30 games into the season.  Just five games into the season, the Lakers fire coach Mike Brown and flip L.A. the bird hiring Mike D’Antoni which has paved the way for a Pau Gasol mope fest and Kobe having a career year.  The New York Knicks seemingly limped into the Garden as the oldest team in league history and have shown that age is just another number.  The Golden State Warriors have come … Continued

Tony Romo has another opportunity. An opportunity that will ultimately define his career. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had Romo’s back ever since he took over for Drew Bledsoe, claiming that Romo is his quarterback that will lead Dallas to a Super Bowl victory. Winning a Super Bowl isn’t easy when your team fails to make the playoffs. The quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys has another shot at redemption. The player who dons number nine has another chance to prove doubters wrong in a winner-take-all matchup. Two previous winner-take-all, week 17 games, one in 2008 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles and … Continued

If the New York Giants make the playoffs, then they are a threat given their recent playoffs success. Here is how I currently see things shaking out: … Continued

Two weeks remain in the NFL regular season and 15 of the 32 teams in the league have been eliminated from playoff contention.  If you’re a fan of one of those teams, you might feel like checking out for the year.  Offered here for you is an alternative.  It’s time to look ahead to 2013 and think about what your team may do during the offseason.  Team by team there are specific needs, cap space (current based on current roster configuration.  It’s very hard to guess which players will be released and/or traded during the offseason which can dramatically affect … Continued

Week 7 in the NBA has started and the short season has shown us many things. The Wizards, now know as the Izards, for their lack of W’s, the big three for the Los Angeles Lakers (sadly not including Luke Walton) and Miami, and Carmelo and company dominating the East. But there is one constant in the jumble of NBA news and that is the ageless Kobe Bryant continuing to dominate the competition. At 34 years of age, Bryant is putting up numbers younger players dream about. His stat line this season reads 29.5 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per … Continued
