Hancher Auditorium will be hosting the 3rd annual Infinite Dream Festival this week from September 17 through September 20th. From the heart of the festival at Hancher, it branches all across Iowa City to The James Theater, The Old Capitol Museum, and many more locations. Here is your guide to the festival.

Riot Fest 2025 Preview

Douglass Park will once again be hosting Riot Fest from September 19-21. The largest independent festival in the US, Riot Fest has been a haven for diverse music, great food, and a unique community that can only be cultivated by lineups including anyone from The Beach Boys to “Weird Al” Yankovic.

Alone at the Top

As the final seconds drained away at Kinnick Stadium, Kirk Ferentz was doused in orange Gatorade and handed his place in history. With win No. 206, Ferentz passed Woody Hayes to become the winningest coach in Big Ten history, his understated Midwestern legacy built less on titles than on the thousands of players who call him their coach.

Trapped in the Box

The Hawkeyes fell three points short in Ames, trapped in the same box they’ve always played in. Cautious routes and a passing game that refuses to breathe. Even glimpses of promise, like Gronowski’s 22-yard completion, couldn’t break them free from their rectangle of comfort.

You may have not heard of the Minnesota based, indie pop band The Role Call yet, but it’s only a matter of time before they’re on your radar. As I waited in the cold outside The Rave in Milwaukee last weekend for a concert, I met the band and listened to a sample of their music. I instantly gravitated toward their fresh alternative pop sound. “Find Your Way” is my pick for track of the week, because it’s a song we all can relate to, and enjoy while doing it. Friday night may have been a tad more chilly than we’ve been used to in Iowa City, but that didn’t stop people from enjoying the 90’s cult classic Office Space in City Park. The film was played on September 21st as part of the Starlite Cinema, an open-air cinema experience. Not only did everyone get to enjoy the classic comedy, they also got the opportunity to destroy an office printer before the film (which was inspired by the scene from the film).
