The State of Iowa’s Human Trafficking

By: Brad Gaspelin

Prostitution in Iowa

Online prostitution is taking the place of street prostitution all over the country, and Iowa is no different. What you might not expect is that this is leading to increases of sex trafficking, especially among minors. The anonymity of online prostitution makes it more difficult for police to track down the kidnapped girls, and more difficult to prosecute their kidnappers. Brad Gaspelin investigates this story by talking with Lt. Shane Kron about online crime and his recent arrest of 4 online prostitutes in Coralville, Teresa Downing who works with the Network Against Human Trafficking, and Kevin Kinney, a Johnson county Sherrif Detective who brought down the first human trafficking ring in Iowa and saved a 13 year old girl.
