It’s Just Cy-Hawk: #19 Iowa 18, Iowa State 17

It was two hours and 55 minutes…no, not the game length. That was the total time each team spent in the locker room due to severe weather in the Ames area on Saturday afternoon. In any normal Saturday, the lightning delay would’ve been the big story. But, with College Gameday, A quirky game, and a … Continued

#19 Iowa vs. Iowa State: The Breakdown

It’s been a fun week of playful trash-talk, but since we’re now in the period of time where people are taking it too seriously, it’s time to see what’s expected on Saturday. It’s obviously the most anticipated Cy-Hawk game in the history of the series, especially with ESPN’s College Gameday on-site in Ames for the … Continued

A Trip West on Highway 30: Previewing the Iowa State Cyclones

There is a reason ESPN’s College Gameday is making the trip to Ames this weekend and it’s not just for the boys coming from the west on Highway 30 (more direct than I-80). Now in his fourth season at Iowa State, Matt Campbell has turned a historical Big 12 doormat into a conference title contender. … Continued

Special Teams Were Special in Hawkeye Shutout

Image by Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports Iowa blanked Rutgers, 30-0, in front of a crowd of over 61,000 at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday. All three phases had great success, but it was the special teams unit that stole the show. Rutgers punter, Adam Korsak, did all he could to stifle the Iowa offense in the … Continued

KRUI is Iowa City’s premiere source for the latest in independent and local music. We also have an extensive library of older indie, pop, rock, electronic, hip hop, jazz, folk… you name it, it’s represented. Along with this prodigious selection of music, we also feature many specialty shows that focus on specific genres and eras. As long as it’s not commercial, it’s fair game for KRUI.

KRUI accepts music submissions from anyone with recordings. Whether you’re an unsigned band, a small label, a major label, or just a few kids playing around in the basement – if you play good music, we’ll give it a listen and consider it for airplay.

To submit music for airplay, just send it to KRUI at the address below. We accept all forms of media but CDs or vinyl are the best route to take. Please ensure your meets our submission guidelines:

  • – To be considered for airplay, your submission must be in one of the following formats: cassette, CD, or vinyl. Due to the way we currently operate, we cannot directly broadcast MP3s/other digital audio.
  • – Send us a little information. We don’t need much – just a little info explaining who you are and where you came from. This is particularly applicable to bands who are trying to break into college radio without the help of a promotion company. A little info can mean a lot.
  • – Please include a track list and make sure to note which tracks contain swearing/obscenities. That will help us know if/when we can play your music.
  • – It’s helpful for you to include a CD jewel case with your release. It makes it much easier for DJs to find and play your CD if it’s properly packaged and marked. Album art and liner notes help your music stand out from the rest of the pack.

Unfortunately, media submitted to us cannot be returned (due to shipping costs). For more information, you can contact the Music Director using the information below.

We do our best to respond to all tracking inquiries, but due to the volume of email we receive, we cannot guarantee a response. Thank you for understanding.
