I spoke with Derek Sanders, frontman of Mayday Parade after their gig at Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, Iowa. A conversation spanning much more than the 20 years of the band, he told me about his latest trilogy release and all the way back to his very first autograph he signed.

Democrats Tour Campus to Connect with Youth Voters, KRUI Talks with Clara Reynen

This month, Johnson County Democrats are conducting “listening tours” to connect with students at the University of Iowa, consisting of various extracurricular and undergraduate-based organizations and events. The listening tour works as an open forum for students to describe their needs, goals, and priorities when it comes to both elected officials and the Democratic Party.

On Campus: Hawkeye baseball plays three against Nittany Lions. The Iowa Hawkeye basball team will take on Penn State this weekend at Duane Banks Field in three games on Friday (6:05), Saturday (2:05), and Sunday (12:00). Iowa is currently in last place in the Big Ten standings, but they have a chance to start climbing the ladder, as PSU holds a 7-8 Big Ten record. Campus is bone dry this weekend, but if you have wheels, or just a television with a cable connection, there will be plenty to keep you entertained. Off Campus: Iowa competes at the Drake Relays. Coming off a weekend in Iowa City that saw 18 individual championships for the Hawkeye, the Iowa track and field team is now set for one of the biggest track meets in the country.  The event has already started, as the Drake Relays cover Thursday, Friday and wrap up on Saturday.
