When We Were Young Recap

KRUI’s recap of When We Were Young Festival 2025 in Las Vegas. Throughout 4 stages, 53 bands tore through their sets across a 13 hour day. Here is how I spent my day at When We Were Young. 

For the past two seasons, the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team has had numerous close losses.  In many of those losses, they were winning for much of the game, and couldn’t hold on.  They had similar games this past week against Michigan State and Illinois.  On Tuesday, the Hawkeyes had yet another chance to get a signature victory, and they couldn’t quite pull it off, losing 71-69 in overtime despite leading for much of the second half.  Then came Saturday’s game against a struggling Illinois team.  Iowa needed a win  to stay with Michigan and Michigan State (both 8-1) in the … Continued

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team have made the NCAA Tournament in six consecutive seasons, including all three during Nebraska’s time in the Big Ten. But the Hawkeyes have not been able to figure out the riddle that is the Cornhuskers. Iowa lost to Nebraska for the seventh consecutive time Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, dropping a 80-67 decision to the Huskers. The loss dropped the Hawkeyes to 5-4 in Big Ten play, tied for fourth in the conference. Two tributes in one night. That was the tall task the people of Boston faced Sunday, when Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce took to the parquet, the first since their valiant run with the Boston Celtics. Six months have passed since the summer afternoon when the Commonwealth shipped the two future hall of famers to Brooklyn, and the clock has been ticking since for the fans to give their proper thanks.
