Interview: Eve 6 at Innings Festival

Logan Melia sits down with Eve 6 at Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona. Eve 6 took some time after their slot to discuss their early days playing gigs at small cafes all the way to a racetrack.

By Emily Levins Dye It Blonde is the sophomore effort from the Chicago-based group of twenty-somethings, Smith Westerns.  The album is a wonderful mix of youth, rebellion, and love, all set to a backdrop of fuzzy and dreamy instrumentals.  The songs have a certain drunken haze to them, seen especially with album opener, “Weekend.”  This ten-song collection is the perfect blend of carefree and catchy, a fun and exciting soundtrack to the glory days of adolescence. By Trent Harrison Mogwai’s trademark humor is apparent throughout their newest release, Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will.  As if the title wasn’t proof enough, sections of the album deviate greatly from their previous sound, using upbeat synthesizers, vocoded vocals, and simple rock compositions. Regardless, every track incorporates a wide range of dynamics, sonically beautiful atmospheres, and meticulous attention to detail. By Drew Ingersoll We had the pleasure of having the Wailers stop by for an intimate KRUI Underground session with us at Public Space One on Saturday, February 5th before taking stage at The Blue Moose Tap House. The crowd varied from young children to older adults who all experienced the interview by KRUI’s own Alina Perez Gomez and a two song set by The Wailers. They emphasized being humanitarians, musicians, and taking pride in education. Stay tuned for more remote broadcasts from Public Space One. A live stream and/or video will be up shortly.
