If you wondered who would lead Iowa in scoring tonight. You probably wouldn’t have said Bethany Doolittle. She did though, leading the way with 16 points in Iowa’s 74-57 loss to Notre Dame.

“I’m really proud of Bethany. She was aggressive and hitting shots tonight,” Jamie Printy said.

Although Printy graduates this year, she seemed optimistic for the future of this now young Iowa team. Returning starters to the team will be Doolittle, Samantha Logic , Theairra Taylor and as Lisa Bluder said in her post game conference practically starter Melissa Dixon.

Doolittle’s performance is no surprise according to Bluder.

“It’s amazing what a little confidence can do for a kid. Really happy with the game Bethany had tonight,” Bluder said.

Coming into the game averaging 7.2 points per game, most of the scoring in the post had been deferred to senior Morgan Johnson. From this game on it’ll be Doolittle’s responsibility.

Starting for Iowa this year, Doolittle owns the experience she needs to start her ascend to one of the best mid-range centers in the Big Ten.

Doolittle’s already deadly from the baseline, a shot that always seems to be open on a Taylor or Logic drive. I can only imagine how well she’ll do once she expands her arsenal.

This 16-point game should become the norm for Doolittle, who returns with guards that can set her up for success.

“I feel good about what we have returning,” Bluder said.
