Show Spotlight: The Sean and Corey Thompson Show

By Kristina Gonzalez

Iowa students have much to talk about these days, from the shady 72-day marriage of Kim Kardashian to the also very shady business of Penn State’s football coach, Joe Paterno. If you’re looking for an entertaining talk show full of jokes, good times, and an exclusive weather report, the only thing to do is check out The Sean and Corey Thompson Show every Sunday from 1-2 PM on KRUI 89.7 FM.

A few giggles, snickers, chuckles, chortles, and guffaws are sure to escape your lips as hosts Sean, Corey, Matt, and Allie lead the show each week with a segment entitled “Campus Pulse.” The segment discusses the most important event that happened in the past week. If you’re worried that the show only covers pop culture, don’t fret! The show covers a wide range of topics, including strange happenings in Iowa City, sports, charities, and more. Since its creation, the hosts have made a personal effort to make the show fun and interesting for their listeners. It’s not just a good time for their audience, but for the hosts as well. “I enjoy hosting our show because it’s fun for me to try and provide an entertaining hour of conversation with my friends,” says co-host Sean Thompson.

This talk show also contains multiple perspectives amongst the hosts. The female and student perspective of the show belongs to their personal pop star, Allie, while Sean provides the UI staff perspective. Corey has the meteorologist-ultimate-Frisbee-storm tracker perspective, and Matt has the high school teacher and bird watcher perspective. The Sean and Corey Thompson show has a lively group of hosts whose personalities shine on the show. Disappointment with their matchless talk show just doesn’t happen.
