Track and Field Update: February 28

The Hawkeye men’s and women’s teams competed in the Indoor Big Ten Championships this weekend. The men came out with five all-Big Ten athletes and the women with two. KRUI Sports Staffer Kylie Sebert has more on the results, click on the audio link below to hear the update.

The Iowa men placed fourth with 88 team points at the event which was their best finish since 1997. The women tied for eighth but were happy with Bethany Praska and Besty Flood’s performances.

Justin Austin started off the weekend taking the Big Ten crown in the 200 meter dash.

Finishing out the weekend the men’s 1,600 meter relay took first and sends four more Hawkeye to the National Indoor Championships in two weeks.

The qualifiers will head to College Station, Texas to Texas A&M University on March 11 and 12.
