Iowa Spring Practice: QB’s duel, youth arrives, and defense shines

Not since Iowa beat Illinois 19-10 on Senior Day in 2019 had the Hawkeyes played in front of home fans outside of friends and family. That streak ended Saturday morning as Iowa held it’s first of two open practices this spring with fans in attendance. Fans arrived as early as before 7 AM to get the first chance to see their Hawkeyes in person since November of 2019. Iowa football shakes up staff

The Iowa football team announced several staff changes on Thursday afternoon. After the departure of Erik Campbell in December, there are four other coaches coming and going. Running backs coach Lester Erb and defensive backs coach Darrell Wilson have left to pursue other jobs while Bobby Kennedy is the new receivers coach and Jim Reid has been named a defensive assistant. Erb and Wilson were long rumored to be leaving the Hawkeyes, but there was no official release on the matter until today.
