It’s been a minute since we last checked in on the Big Ten, but a few general trends have continued over the past couple of weeks. Michigan and Oregon keep spiraling, UCLA and Indiana keep winning, and here in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes seem to be more of a week-to-week thing. After dropping its past two games in convincing fashion, Iowa struck first on Saturday. The Hawkeyes scored about eight minutes into the game following a very efficient offensive drive of six plays for 72 yards. Quarterback James Vandenberg hit receiver Kevonte Martin-Manley for a 24-yard touchdown pass along the sidelines to put Iowa on the board. On Indiana’s first play from scrimmage following Iowa’s drive — and supplanting starter Cam Coffman with Nate Sudfeld at quarterback — linebacker Chris Kirksey intercepted Sudfeld and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown.
