Portland’s indie-rock group, Ages and Ages, released their track “Divisionary (Do the Right Thing)” earlier this year from their sophomore album of a similar title, Divisionary.
The band stopped by the Englert on March 25th to open for the up-and-coming jazz-rock band, Lake Street Dive. Ages and Ages coincidentally released their album on the same day, and celebrated in Iowa City.
“Divisionary (Do the Right Thing)” pairs a hand-clapping, boot-stomping beat with limited instrumental accompaniment and the simple, catchy mantra: “Do the right thing, do it all the time.” The simple guitar, piano, and violin accompaniments and group sing-chants are almost reminiscent of the folk/classic rock legend, Fleetwood Mac.
