Show Spotlight: Permission to Boogie

Do you like your music mixed with witty commentary on the world’s current events?  Every Thursday night on The Lab, hosts Zach Tilly and Skaaren Cossé bring you the perfect blend of up-and-coming tunes and clever banter on their show, Permission to Boogie.

Aside from the eclectic, contemporary music played on the show, including the likes of M83, Local Natives and Wye Oak, what really makes Permission to Boogie unique is the wide range of topics discussed by its hosts.  “We, the co-hosts, go back a long way and have a history of creating goofy stuff for our own self-satisfaction,” says Tilly.  “With Permission to Boogie, we are trying to harness that drive to create and maintain a strictly professional edge.”  Past discussion topics have included the re-release of Star Wars in 3D, Robert Reich and demand-side economic policy, and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, evidence that the show really does have a little something for everyone.  According to Tilly, “The slightly under-the-radar music we play and the critical edge to some of our commentary probably narrows down our listeners to people who enjoy super-good radio shows.”

Permission to Boogie’s hosts take their on-air commentary one step further by accompanying the show with a substantial multimedia presence not found with many other radio shows.  “The hope is that we can create a program with a presence that extends well beyond our two hours on air every week,” says Tilly.  Along with regular updates on Facebook and Twitter, Permission to Boogie’s hosts have created a blog that is updated almost daily with original content on entertainment, sports, politics, and anything else they find interesting enough to write about.  As Tilly says, “People looking for a radio program that balances on-air boogieing with original online content need look no further than Permission to Boogie.”

Hear some great tunes while catching up on the latest in music, news and celebrity gossip with Permission to Boogie, every Thursday night from 10 PM – 12 AM on The Lab.
