New Jersey has a legacy for passionate rockers. And after Bruce Springsteen, but before the waves of new indie punk bands like Titus Andronicus and Vivian Girls, the torch was carried by the one and only Ted Leo. For twenty years, in fact, Ted Leo has consistently proven that indie rock can still be powerful, even exhilarating, rather than fashionable. Ted Leo’s most famous contributions to the music world have been with his backing band The Pharmacists — with whom he’s recorded the Best New Music’d “Hearts of Oak” and last summer’s KRUI favorite “Brutalist Bricks.” But it’s his solo show that gives audiences a chance to see his talent in a clear light, a chance to see his songs as they are, both careful and raw.
Poison Control Center, Iowa legends, are preparing to make 2011 their year — come see them before they take over the world.
The Color Pharmacy from Minneapolis round out the bill with their own fun and infectious brand of indie rock.
