CLASS ACTRESS is Elizabeth Harper. Some call her an indie Madonna. New York Magazine possibly said it best: “Unabashedly slick electro-pop beats juxtaposed with coy, romantically depressed vocals courtesy of star-in-the-making Elizabeth Harper.” She will stop through on her way back from SXSW, and will blow our minds with electro-vocal goodness. If you’re into Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kate Nash, Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, Florence + The Machine, hell even Lady Gaga, you owe it to yourself to check out this set. She is not to be missed, and certainly not on an $8 ticket.
MILLIONYOUNG is Mike Diaz, from the burgeoning southern chillwave/balearic scene. He has released two EPs, and his debut full length entitled Replicants is out on Old Flame Records. If you’re into Neon Indian or Washed Out, this should be right up your alley. He’s on his way back from SXSW as well. Chill yourself out with some Wednesday night chillwave.
BODY is Alex Body, local psychedelia Night-Person. Body released no less than four records in 2010, and the last, Chief of Time and Frequency, was called “the best Iowa City has seen this year” by former KRUIer John Schlotfelt. He’s one of the best local musicians around, so get to Gabe’s early if you’ve never seen him before!
