Sports Fan Weekend Planner

On Campus:

Iowa Men’s Tennis welcomes Illinois State (Fri. 3 pm) and Western Michigan (Sun 10:30 am).    After starting the season with a win, the Iowa men have lost three in a row. In order to get back to an even mark, the Hawkeyes will have to fight through opponents with a combined 10-3 record.

Track and Field to host the Iowa Invitational. Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete against Coe, Western Illinois, St. Ambrose and Drake at the UI Rec Building near Kinnick Stadium.  The meet is scheduled to start at 5:00 on Friday night.  The men’s team is currently ranked #14 in the country by the NCAA.

Wolverine coming to Carver.  Fran McCaffery and the men’s basketball team will look for it’s 3rd home win in the Big Ten on Saturday at 3:35 pm.  Michigan comes in at 16-11overall and 6-8 in conference play. They lost at Illinois by only two points on Wednesday.  The game can also be seen on the Big Ten Network

Gym-Hawks vs Gym-Huskers.  The Iowa men’s gymnastics team welcome #7 Nebraska to the Field House  on Saturday at 7pm. The Cornhuskers average more points than the Hawks, but they are also 0-2 against the Big Ten. (Minnesota and Illinois)

Off Campus:

Rough Riders take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints in Cedar Rapids. The Rough Riders come home in the middle of playing on three consecutive days.  Both the  Saints and the Riders are in 2nd place of their USHL conferences.

Watch and Listen:

Hawkeye wrestling hits the mats in Minnesota on Sunday.  The last dual meet of the season can be heard live on AM 800 at 2:00 pm, or you can lock yourself in a room all day and wait until 8:30 to see a television broadcast on the Big Ten Network on Sunday night.  The Hawkeyes will look to remain perfect in the Big Ten and undefeated on the season.  Iowa’s only blemish this year is a 15-15 tie at Oklahoma State.
