We’ve all been there. That first couple weeks (sometimes months…) of a new relationship when you do nothing but bang each other’s brains out. That does not always last that long for everyone though. Sometimes that flame burns out more quickly than others.

When that flame does burn out you have to find ways to keep it interesting. Sex is not the key to a successful relationship, but it does help, for example the use of toys like remote control vibrators can be really helpful in this area. I can speak from past experience that I have stopped communicating with or dating someone because the sex was bad.

photo via: sexualhealth.com

Before you jump to the conclusion that I am a shallow person let me explain. Bad communication between partners leads to a lot of problems, especially in the bedroom. If you are not willing to talk to your partner about sex, then you are not mature enough to be having sex in the first place.

I was once dating this guy for a very brief period during my freshman year of college. We met at the bars and ended up hooking up the same night. It was great… or so I thought. We started to get serious after a few weeks and that was when we had sex again. It was terrible.

Five short minutes of jack rabbit humping and a grunt, then it was over. It was straight out of a Sex and the City episode. I was left unsatisfied and unamused. Yet I was still scared to tell him that it was bad. Scared that I would bruise his manly ego. I decided to give him another chance because everyone has bad days, so the next night I crashed at his place and yet again I was left disappointed. This man, or boy I should say, also told me that one of my bras made me look like a grandma. Don’t worry, I dumped him shortly after that and searched for fuck apps to try out right away.

After that disaster of a dating experience, I started to see relationships through a different lens. There’s something freeing about realizing that you don’t have to settle for anything less than what truly fulfills you—both emotionally and physically. Too often, we get roped into staying in situations that leave us unsatisfied simply because we fear hurting someone’s feelings or bruising their ego. But in reality, those moments of dissatisfaction are usually signs telling us it’s time to move on. Exploring new connections doesn’t have to be shameful or hidden, and frankly, life’s too short to keep giving second chances to people who don’t seem to appreciate you or what you bring to the table.

As I moved forward, I found myself more open to exploring different types of relationships, and in that process, I came across SubSeeker, a search engine that opens the door to discovering content creators on OnlyFans who offer more personalized experiences. It was a whole new world where connection wasn’t limited to the typical dating game—here, creators build spaces for fans to feel seen, appreciated, and even a little adventurous.

Whether you’re exploring OnlyFans for entertainment or to connect with someone in a more meaningful, interactive way, there’s something refreshing about discovering new avenues that allow you to engage on your terms. In both dating and the world of online connections, finding exactly what (or who) makes you feel valued is key, and platforms like these make the process all the more enjoyable.

If your partner isn’t doing something you want them to, ask them. The worst they could do is say they are not comfortable but most likely they will be cool with it because they want to please you. Well at least I hope they do, if not why are you there?

It goes both ways, make your partner feel comfortable. If you feel like something is up, ask them. Do not be afraid to ask questions and say how you feel. Chances are if you feel like something is up, it is. Men suffering from ED may also notice their sex lives suffering. Thankfully, there are now vitality supplements like Red Boost (See More Information) that can help cure impotency.

Disclaimer: Strong language used.

The boys of Tinder are an interesting breed. There is not just one particular type of guy on Tinder, there are many different kinds of them. That’s what we are going to discuss today. I am here to enlighten you on the multiple types of guys you will most likely encounter when using Tinder.

photo via: uproxx.com

#1: The Fuckboy

Rule numero uno, do no mess with the fuckboy. He will seem like a good person to talk to but he is not. He only wants to see Asians naked. If that is okay with you then do what you got to do but just be aware that he has the potential to shit on your whole life. Fuckboys get enjoyment out of leading girls on, making it seem like they want a relationship from them when in reality they just want to get laid and use adult toys. If you’re looking for something better, I recommend hiring ts escorts instead.

#2: Mr. Persistent

photo via: www.jezebel.com

Mr. Persistent is the guy that will continue to pester you with messages even after the first six times you didn’t respond. He is the type of person that does not understand when the opposite party is not interested in what he has to offer. He is also the guy that will get mad and call you a “bitch” or “ugly” for not responding to him.

#3: The Creep

photo via: www.brobible.com

The creep is pretty self explanatory. He is the guy that will say the most perverse and uncomfortable things to you without even a proper introduction. This is the type of person that you eventually end up blocking because he will continue to say these types of things to you even if you blatantly tell him you’re not interested. He gets some sort of sick pleasure out of saying gross things to women hoping they are into it when 99% of the time they are not.

#4: The traveling musician/athlete/*fill in the blank*

photo via: rantsports.com

This guy will straight up tell you he is only in town for ______ amount of time and ask if you want to bang. Or in my personal experience they will send you a super cocky message asking if I want to spend the night with a national champ. Boy Baiiiii.

#5: Mr. Nice Guy

photo via: thezombieshuffle.com

Mr. Nice Guy is actually one of the few decent people you may encounter on Tinder. In this dark place of desperation, he is the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though you may never actually end up meeting this man, he will still send you sweet messages and charm your pants off. The only problem with Mr. Nice Guy is that it makes it so much harder to stop talking to them if you do not click. Experience the convenience of the latest P5 for dating.

#6: Flake Master

The flake master is the guy that will make plans with you then last minute cancels for some unknown reason. This is the worst type of guy because at this point you already like him or are at least interested in him because you are giving him a chance. He will still continue talking to you though, will make plans again, and then cancel once more.

Tinder is an interesting place where lonely singles or not so single people go to either kill some time or hopefully meet the person of their dreams. For now though I will leave you here with the notorious boys of Tinder.

*Disclaimer: some content may not be suitable for younger readers*

As college students, we can’t go through a whole day without hearing about sex or having casual sex in Louisville. You can’t seem to escape the horror stories of awkward sexual encounters or the sometimes overly graphic details shared between friends. It wouldn’t be a normal college experience if you at some point haven’t been sexually promiscuous or did something that you may have regretted the next day. Even though this is the case, I still feel like sex is somewhat of a taboo topic in society, specifically amongst young adults.

When I was in high school, no one talked about sex outside of their friend group. Even then, it was in the privacy of their own homes–you couldn’t say anything at school without the fear that people would judge you or tell everyone they know. Gossip was a particularly popular pastime in my hometown like it is in most, so when someone got ahold of juicy secrets about someone else’s sex life it spread like wildfire.

The parents of kids that went to my school were even in on it, especially my ex-boyfriend’s mother.

photo cred: huffingtonpost.com

She loved to talk about my relationship with her son to all of her coworkers, which happened to be peers of my moms. So I had more than one of my “friends” come up to me and tell me that my boyfriend’s mom was telling their mom about how much sex him and I were having based on the number of empty condom boxes that she found in the back of his sock drawer (don’t ask me why he kept the empties there). I have never been so embarrassed to hear about my own life from another person’s mouth.

This instance is why I decided to write this column. I shouldn’t feel embarrassed for having sex with my boyfriend (at the time) or just in general. We should be able to talk about this topic openly and freely without wondering what people are thinking in their head.

photo cred: popsugar.com

This is not to say that people will not judge you, because people will always judge and have something to say about the choices you make. But sex should not be a topic we consider unmentionable–it is something that the majority of us participate in at least one point in our lives and is a normal human act.

So, to wrap this up, this column will be about different subjects and stories pertaining to sex and college life. I will talk about just about everything under the moon that I can think of and will try to not hold back, ensuring that this will be completely honest writing.

If you are searching for a new album to add to your musical repertoire then Searching for Sunlight is for you! Released in early January, Searching for Sunlight is Golden Bloom’s fourth album, but this is their first album as a whole group. The first two albums were solo projects of the multi-talented artist, Shawn Fogel, he is now joined by Josh Cohen, Jeff Patlingrao, and Justin Hoffman.

photo via: twitter.com

Some other albums from Golden Bloom are Fan the Flames (2009), March to the Drums (2011), and No Day Like Today (2013).

The album starts off with “Looking up to You,” a singer-songwriter staple track. The acoustic guitar and soft maraca in the background make for a fantastic kick-off. “Circles Round My Mind” keeps the ball rolling by adding some great percussion to the already lush melodies from the first track. The prominent drums continue on “Great Unknown.” It starts off with sweeter vocals, then picks up with some unpredictable chord progressions.

The cleverly titled, “Books You Never Read,” is a slow paced, easy listening track with lyrics that speak to you on another level. “Listen to yourself as you begin to say, ‘tell me everything is gonna be okay'” is one of the lines from the song that really stuck with me after I listened to it. I feel like most of the tracks on this album have a much deeper meaning than they may seem. Golden Bloom picks up the pace again with “Fall Out of Line,” yet again talking about the sucky things of life in a rhythmic, yet direct way. “Racing thoughts just can’t keep up when the walls start caving in” was another beautiful lyric that I could not get out of my head after I heard it on this track.

photo via: goldenbloommusic.com

Full of uplifting and memorable arrangements “Searching for Sunlight” is one of the best songs on the whole album. It is one of those songs that you could listen to on repeat for days. “Come Back Home” was one of my least favorite songs, I did not like the keyboard they added at the beginning and it took too long to get into. Ending the album on a softer more gentle note, “Want Love” pulled me in with more meaningful lyrics about life’s hard truths. After I heard the line, “Weigh your head like a weight upon my shoulder” I replayed it over and over because it was just so relatable.

I recommend this album to everyone–it is just one those albums that are hard not to enjoy even if you do not particularly like this genre of music. It is feel-good, downright amazing music that you can listen to any time of the day, in any mood. If you are sad and want to sulk there are songs on this album that will make you ponder your thoughts for hours. But if you want a quick pick me up, or are having a grand ole time there are tracks on there that will make you want to dance around wherever you’re at. I give this album a 9/10, make sure you give it a listen!

*Disclaimer: Strong language used*

We have all been judged based on a stereotype at some point in our lives. Whether it is because you have red hair, are an African American, Jewish, or Blonde, the list goes on forever. Pretty much what I am trying to say is that no matter who you are, you are bound to be put into at least one stereotype category even if you do not reflect it.

photo via: popsugar.com

For me, I always get stereotyped as the dumb blonde. Not to be confused with the dumb blonde bombshell because I definitely do not have the certain “assets” to fit into that category.

I know my stereotype is not as bad as some of the other more severe ones out there, but it still has affected me in negative ways. Everyone knows the blonde stereotype: super quirky, not the brightest crayon in the box, and always super attractive Elle Woods-type girl, so it is not always a bad thing to be associated with girls like her because it is such a lovable character. But on the other hand, when I am speaking to someone and the talk to me in a way that make me feel like they are talking down to me just because they don’t think I am as smart as they are it makes me feel like shit. I am sure anyone else out there that is a blonde can relate, it is infuriating when almost everyone has these automatic thoughts about you just because of your hair color, that in no way reflects h0w intelligent or unintelligent you may be.

Don’t get me wrong, not all stereotypes are harmful. I have learned from taking multiple sociology classes that some stereotypes are helpful for many different reasons, but that is not circumstance the majority of the time. That is the reason why I am writing this article. It really irritates the hell out of me when people judge others based on what they expect that person to be like because of a specific idea they have in their mind.

For example, just because someone is African American doesn’t mean they are a criminal, just because someone is a Muslim doesn’t mean they are a terrorist, and just because someone is Mexican does not mean they are here illegally.

photo via: trans4mind.com

These are the type of ignorant judgments that drive me crazy. It amazes me that people actually think that each and every person from a certain race or ethnicity fits the exact description that some asshole made up forever ago. I am not saying that certain people don’t ever match the stereotype, but the likeliness of someone being the exact reflection of the category is very slim. You have to be extremely narrow-minded to even begin to think this way (no offense, just kidding).

Stereotypes do not only exist for different races and ethnicities, but for gender too. There are still people that think females need to be the perfect housewife that wait on their husband’s hand and foot. Also, that a woman should not wear men’s clothing or be caught looking even slightly unfeminine, are you freaking kidding me?! On the other hand, there are still people that think all men need to be the image of masculinity. They think that it is not okay for men to cry or show any emotion like, really people, women and men can do whatever the hell they want, if a woman wants to shop in the men’s section she can and vice versa.

It is 2016, it drives me insane that there is still this blatant ignorance existing in our society. This goes hand in hand with racist, sexist, and homophobic remarks like I wrote about in an earlier article. If we don’t stop making jokes and making light of these stereotypes then the will never go away and that it not okay. It will be hard, but we need to get rid of these expectations and thoughts that are attached to the way we think of someone or these stereotypes will continue to exist.

photo via: giphy.com

As a fairly new college student, there are some questions that I have been asked a million times in the short amount of time that I have been away. I am sure that almost every college student or graduating high school senior can relate to this predicament. We are constantly bombarded with the same questions and comments every time we come home for holiday break. “What’s your major?” “Why are you doing that?” and my favorite one of them all, “You won’t make any money doing that, good luck.”

photo via: giphy.com

That last comment is the reason I hate telling people what my major is. If you don’t say you are pre-med, pre-law or any other “high-paying career” path people automatically assume you are destined to be broke for the rest of your life. I can say from personal experience as a journalism major I get this almost every time I am asked a question about my major. I hate how people automatically assume you are going to college just so you can make bank the rest of your life, some people don’t particularly care about making loads of money when they graduate from college. I would rather be happy and doing something that I am truly passionate about, than always dreading going to work every day because I chose a career that I didn’t truly love.

I see so many other college students constantly overworked and stressed and using blackberry lime delta 9 gummies to cope because their parents forced them to chose a major just because it was prestigious or because they want their kids to have the exact same job as them because they are successful. Well not everyone is meant to be a doctor, lawyer or an engineer. I can say for myself that I know I am not meant to be a doctor or a lawyer. I have always known
what I am passionate about and what I want to do for the rest of my life. Not everyone is as lucky as me, but being pressured into choosing a major just because of the money you might make or because you have the chance to be successful isn’t the right choice. Everyone needs to take that time to figure out what they a truly passionate about and find the major that lights the fire within you every time you think about your future.

As college students we should be excited about the opportunity we have that so many other people don’t. We should be enjoying the time we have here, not being miserable because we are studying something that we aren’t particularly jazzed about. These are supposed to be some of the best years of my life, and I don’t plan on wasting them by being told what to do by other people who don’t like what I am doing.

day of Mission Creek. They played at Gabe’s, one of my favorite venues here in Iowa City. The show got started about forty minutes after it was supposed to, so while we were waiting for Phat Kat to come on, two DJs whose names I didn’t catch entertained the crowd in the meantime. They were really fun guys that kept the fairly large crowd at that point from getting too impatient. I automatically liked them because they yelled “F**k Donald Trump” in the middle of one of their songs and the whole crowd went crazy. Another interesting thing that happened was one of the DJs even took the time to ask the girl in front of me for her number because she was freaking out so much over him. It was actually pretty cute.

Finally, Phat Kat, a small time rapper from Detroit came on stage. After a little research on the artists beforehand it did not take me long to realize that they all hail from Detroit, Michigan. I am surprised Phat Kat is not more popular than he is. He has an

old-school rap sound that is almost non-existent in today’s hip-hop community. He had a demanding presence on stage and really knew how to get the crowd going. Everyone was jamming along with him and the atmosphere in the place at this point was fantastic.

Up next was Guilty Simpson. He had a very imposing presence and a hard posture, but his rhymes were smooth and flowed with ease. “Hip hop is in the house” was the first thing he announced when he walked onto the stage, before him and Phat Kat rapped together as he closed out his set. He talked a little about how all of the artists that played last night were from Detroit and how we as the crowd were “part of hip-hop history.” Guilty Simpson made it hard for you not to watch him because his sheer size demanded your

attention. He kept the crowd rolling until the next act.

After Guilty Simpson was Black Milk, whose beats are notorious. He was even discovered by Slum Village and produced a track on their 2002 mixtape “Dirty District.” Black Milk is an excellent artist. I do understand why his beats are so famous because he had the crowd moving around the whole time during his set. I don’t think I saw one person standing still, which was a pretty

Black Milk (photo via: thecouchsessions.com)

big accomplishment because the crowd was almost doubled in size by the time he came on. I couldn’t even get a decent picture of him performing because I kept getting bumped into every time I tried to take one. He kept everyone’s attention, especially mine, and he was pretty cute which helped.

Lastly, Slum Village closed down the party with their old-school, hip-hop funk sound. Pretty much everyone in the crowd was rapping along with them to every song. They definitely brought the biggest crowd. They were constantly moving all around the stage and like all the other acts, brought the party atmosphere in the room to an all-time high. It was pretty late at this point; the show went till about 2 am but I wasn’t 100% sure because my phone died after Black Milk’s set. They still kept the ball rolling and ended it on a high note leaving the crowd satisfied.

Slum Village (photo via: rollingstone.com)

Overall this was a fantastic show. I was a little apprehensive at first because I don’t listen to much hip-hop/rap but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would definitely see any of the artists again if I got the chance.

Disclaimer: Article contains content that may be offensive or unsuitable for minors.

This week’s resting bitch face will be pretty self-explanatory. I have been brain-storming and really thinking about the top ten things that really piss me off more than anything. This was actually a very hard task for me because so many things grind my gears to no end, but here is what I came up with.

1.) When people chew with their mouths open

I do not understand why this is still even a thing. Why is it so hard for a grown-ass adult to chew with their mouth closed? Like seriously, if you are over the age of seven please close your damn mouth, I beg you. There is nothing worse than when you are on a date or just out for a meal with your friends and someone with is across from you just chomping away.

photo via:www.wtffacts.xyz

2.) When people eat my food

There is honestly nothing more irritating that when someone eats my food without asking. While living in the dorms this past year I have had to deal with this almost every day. My roommate takes my food all the time and I’ve told her multiple times that if she wants some just to ask, but she never does. If someone else buys groceries with their own money DON’T TAKE IT WITHOUT ASKING THEM!! It’s so simple people!!

photo via: pinterest.com

3.) When guys just can’t take a hint

Men are some of the most persistent creatures out there, but there are some times when they need to learn to take a hint. I cannot tell you how many times that I have been out with friends and a guy comes up to talk to me and I am not interested at all, yet they still keep talking to me. I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, how does this chick really see this as a problem? She must be a big ole b$*ch”. Well, I will tell you that this isn’t always a problem but when I am avidly acting disinterested in a guy’s attention and he doesn’t see that then it gets a little annoying. Like when a guy keeps texting you repeatedly even though you have not replied the first twenty times. I’m sure I am not the only girl out there that has experienced this.

photo via: howdoiputthisgently.tumblr.com

4.) When people try to talk to me while I have headphones in

This I know all of you can relate to. There are just those days when you want nothing to do with other people so you look for your trusty headphones to be your barrier between you and the outside world. Still, there is always that one overly happy and oblivious person that does not notice that you literally cannot today and they try to tell you all about some “crazy” thing that happened to them the other day or how their second cousin, twice removed has a pet rat that has a third ear. You get the point. If I have headphones in, that should scream to anyone that may want to talk to me, “Please don’t unless you want hell to be released upon you, Thank you”.

photo via: www.buzzfeed.com

5.) Losing or ruining one of my favorite pieces of clothing

First, let’s take a moment of silence for all the articles of clothing that have been long forgotten in the booth of a restaurant or that favorite dress you had that someone spilt a cranberry vodka on at the scummy freshman bar in college. Okay, now that that’s over, back to reality. Everyone has lost something that was important to them at some point in their lives. We are forgetful beings, me especially. I cannot begin to tell you how many vital pieces of my wardrobe that I have so carelessly spilled on or lost forever. This year alone I have lost my favorite scarf, ripped a hole in over three pairs of leggings and spilled a drink all over my white converse. It is a travesty.

photo via: giphy.com

6.) Slow walkers

I understand everyone moves at their own pace in life, but when I am running late to class or wherever, I do not appreciate when other people walk at such a leisurely speed. It is even worse when it is a whole group of people that block the entire hallway or sidewalk so that you can’t even get through. It is common courtesy to not take up the entire sidewalk so with the hell are you taking up the whole space!?! If you are walking slowly, taking your sweet ass time and you see someone trying to pass you then let them through please, it will make your life a whole lot easier.

photo via: theodysseyonline.com

7.) Being interrupted

There is a special place in hell from those that interrupt others. This has to be one of my biggest pet peeves because there is no worse feeling than when you are really excited to tell someone about something and they won’t even let you get a word in. Anytime I get interrupted I am tempted to scream at the top of my lungs, “IT IS NOT YOUR TURN! WAIT FIVE FREAKING SECONDS THEN YOU MAY SPEAK!” Even though we are all guilty of interrupting someone at some point in our lives (mainly when we are young children), by the time you are an adult you should know that it is extremely rude to interrupt someone when they are speaking.

photo via: twitter.com

8.) People that hate dogs

This is one that I will never understand but whenever I hear someone say that they hate dogs it makes me so mad. Dogs are the one type of animal on earth that will love you to no end even if you are a complete asshole to them. I understand if you have ever been attacked by a dog or something like that but if you just don’t like dogs because they are “messy” or “hyper” then I don’t like you.

photo via: tumblr.com

9.) Spilling my coffee

This is one of the absolutely worst things that can happen to someone. I die a little bit inside every time.

photo via: theodysseyonline.com

10.) When people bash on others music tastes

This is just all around irritating because obviously everyone has different tastes. You like classical, cool. You jam out to gangster rap on the daily, neat. You ride around on your tractor listening to country, stop, just kidding but not really.

photo via: giphy.com

These are just the top ten things that piss me off, but as you know, there are many more reasons why I suffer from resting bitch face :)

Emilie and Ogden are not your average duo. Emilie Kahn named the band cleverly after herself and her harp, Ogden. Kahn is from Toronto, Canada, and has been practicing music since she was very young. She originally played the flute and continued to do that until college where she picked up the harp. She was formally in the group TEA (or the Thanya, Emilie & Ali Band) before she self-released an EP in 2013 as Emilie and Ogden. This album was released in late 2015 and blew up quickly. It is easy to see why it is attracting so much attention–with Kahn’s enchanting voice and mesmerizing harp it is hard not to be instantly pulled in.

photo via: rreverb.com

I was hooked from the very beginning of this album, the first track ‘Blame’ has lyrics that jump out at you like “Wish I could undo the hurt/ Ain’t as easy as lifting my skirt.” It is a very delicate and intellectual piece. ‘Ten Thousand’ is the showcase of the whole album. Kahn puts her vulnerability out on the table when she sings, “Ten thousand reasons to stay or to leave.” This whole album has a very pretty and romantic sound, but with sensual and emotional themes hidden within. A great example of this is the track, “Go Home” in a vampire-esque way Emilie coos “Don’t let me into your home.”

Kahn is wearing her heart on her sleeve throughout this whole album and is very recognizable in almost every song. “Closer” draws you into Emilie’s mind with this song about betrayal by a former lover, “Kicked me out into the street saying go home. There is no room here for two lying whores.” “Nothing New” offers some more beautiful strums of her harp and another tale of a former someone who was not satisfied with what she had to offer, “You opened me up and saw inside. You don’t like what you see I apologize.”

Her soft vocals and magical harp add to the the sad, lonely song that is “Dream.” It is such a happy sounding song, but if you listen to the lyrics you will fully understand the melancholy feel of this track. My favorite track on the album is “White Lies,” it is full of very passionate vocals and a nice addition of light precision in the background. The deep sound of the bass during the chorus adds to the whole sensual feel of the song. Every song on this album tells a small story of her love life in under five minutes. “Long Gone” is short piece that sounds much like the other tracks but is still great.

photo via: lithium magazine.com

“Hold Me Down” is a sweet romantic sounding track but there are some very powerful lyrics about Kahn’s anger about being deceived, “When I get my hands around, my hands around your neck, there is just no telling. You can tell her that she’s next.” “What Happened” will draw you in from the very beginning with the angelic-like harp and Kahn’s silky vocals, and with the help of a little soft percussion hidden in the background. Lastly “Babel” will make you wonder who this mysterious person she is writing all these robust lyrics about with it’s tale of how two lovers are better than one.

Overall I loved this album. I don’t think there is one song that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I give this album a 9/10 because of Kahn’s alluring voice and brilliant harp playing as well as her amazing lyrics that almost anyone can relate to. I encourage everyone to check it out.

*Another disclaimer about my use of strong language*

Photo cred: www.hercampus.com

Slut shaming is a perfect example of why I suffer from resting bitch face. For all of you that are not familiar, slut shaming is when a woman or girl is labeled as “sexually out-of-control” and socially ridiculed or punished for this identity that she was given. This is the one of the most sexist acts that I have ever seen. Why should a woman or girl be punished for the same reason a man or boy is praised? It is seen as perfectly acceptable for a man to have multiple partners and be sexually promiscuous, but if a woman does that same thing she is a “slut” or a “whore.”

photo cred: theodysseyonline.com

This is exactly what is wrong with our society and our ass-backward gender norms. It is a woman’s choice what she does with her body and who she shares it with, and that is her business. People, women more specifically, are called sluts for just about any reason these days. If a girl’s shorts are too short, “slut.” If she hooks up with someone or refuses to hook up with someone, “slut.” You are pretty much damned if you do and damned if you don’t. As a woman/girl, if you have had sex before you are a slut or ho, but if you haven’t you’re a prude or a tease; we just can’t win. When men have sex for the first time the become more popular and are praised for it, but when women do they tend to become labeled as impure or tainted.

photo cred: gurl.com

It makes absolutely no sense to me, why do we judge people based on what they have or have not done? It doesn’t effect us in any way; this double-standard that we have in our society for sex needs to go away. Movies like “Easy A” show this double standard and how it can destroy someones reputation even if they are not committing the acts that everyone is saying that they are. We need to stop teaching the future generations that it is okay to call each other these words and women need to also stop calling each other these names. If we call other women “sluts,” “whores,” and “skanks” then men think it is okay to call us them. The majority of women will at one point in their lives be called a slut and that it not okay because we cannot even avoid it. Slut shaming is farm more harmful than just name calling and people need to realize that.

Heterosexual women are expected to be “hot” or “sexy,” but not too sexy. Women have to walk the shaky and unpredictable bridge that is the imaginary line between what is just “sexy” enough and what is “slutty.” If a woman is too confident in her appearance or sexiness, then she risks being labeled as a slut and that is so stupid. We can’t even be confident in ourselves these days without men feeling threatened by us; we shouldn’t have to worry about stupid things that this. If I want to wear an outfit that I feel confident in and other people think it makes me look slutty then f**k em. I will not let myself be defined by a man, I am my own person and I can do what I want with my body.

I do not want to be defined by the amount of people I have or have not slept with, or by the way I dress. I also do not want to be defined by someone that is not me. Only I have the right to define who I am. What I do with my body is my choice, same with all other women. Our bodies are our business, so let’s all work together to end slut shaming for good.
