The most prestigious of the annual individual player awards in the NBA is, without question, the Most Valuable Player award. This season’s crop of candidates for the Maurice Podoloff MVP trophy include the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul, to name a few. However, I’m more intrigued by the outcome of another annual award, the Comeback Player of the Year. It makes sense to believe this is a good omen of what is to come in the playoffs. If the Blackhawks play the way they did during … Continued

The Chicago Blackhawks are usually a dominant force in the league, but this season they took that title to new heights. They won their first six games of the season and in their seventh game took a loss in a shootout. They again lost in a … Continued

The season has finally gotten to the half way point and it has been nicer to some teams more than others. There have been a lot of ups and downs this season half way through, but there are some teams that have not gotten it done. These four teams make my list of teams that desperately need a change of pace in the second half. 1. Los Angeles Lakers Alright, I will say this topic has been beat over the head well after it died, but that does not change the fact that the struggling Lakers have a great deal to improve … Continued

The Hawkeyes faced the Illinois State Redbirds on Sunday in their second game this season. Coming into the game with one win already under their belt, the Hawkeyes were in good spirits. Illinois State scored first resulting in what would be their only lead throughout the entire game, 2-0.
