October has ushered in a new group of challengers and left the forgone conclusions out in the cold, and nothing could be more exciting.

IOWA CITY – Young, Tenacious, and Ready to Dance. When describing the 2017 Iowa Basketball team, these concepts first come to mind. Each of the previous renditions of the squad in recent years made promises which were not kept. Past teams lead by players Peter Jok, Jarrod Uthoff, and Aaron White set bars high with little result to show. However, the Hawkeye program does have results of the rise, which began in 2010. The first year of the Fran McCaffery Era. Under McCaffery, the Hawkeyes returned to March Madness in 2013 and would continue to dance until the 2016 season. … Continued

In the realm of college football, the Big Ten is often considered one of the best top-to-bottom conferences in the nation. It is home to 13 Heisman trophy winners, 22 national titles, six NFL starting quarterbacks and currently holds four of the top 11 teams in the AP Poll.   This storied conference is rich in past glory, but the teams continue to make history every year. NCAA Baseball can have sabermetrics, too. The “sabermetric revolution”, or the application of using objective methodology to determine and understand player performances, is swirling all around Major League Baseball. Statistics such as  On-Base Plus Slugging Plus(OPS+) for hitters and Fielding Independent Pitching Minus(FIP-) with pitchers, among many more sabermetrics. All these unique stats determining player performance are great ways to understand the game of baseball from a unique perspective. IOWA CITY, Iowa – The teams on the list will most likely shock no one, but the new sneak peak should be interesting. Today at 12:30 p.m. EST (11:30 a.m. CST), the selection committee will reveal the top 16 seeds for the upcoming NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. This will be the first time the selection committee has ever released any rankings before Selection Sunday in March. The seedings will represent where the committee believes teams stack up against one another at this point in the season. IOWA CITY, IOWA- A winter storm pounded Iowa City Friday night and continued into Saturday morning. 70,000 seats were covered with over six inches of snow by kickoff but the grounds crew had the field ready to go for senior day and the 2015 home finale at Kinnick Stadium. The undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes (10-0) took on the Purdue Boilermakers (2-8) for a chance to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship game. The Hawkeyes dominated the first quarter of the game. IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa Hawkeyes will take the field under the lights of Kinnick Stadium. twice in the 2015 football season. The Big Ten Conference announced on Monday, April 13 that the Hawks will face Pittsburgh on September 19 in a non-conference battle. The second game will take place on November 14 as the Minnesota Golden Gophers travel to Iowa City, with hopes of keeping the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy. IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 70-59 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Monday night. The Hawkeyes reached the 2-0 mark in Big Ten Conference play for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. Iowa (11-4, 2-0) started the first half on a tear as they drove to the basket early and often allowing the team to go 15-19 from the free throw line. Hawkeye senior Aaron White surpassed Roy Marble’s career free throw mark of 516, making him the all-time leader in free throws at Iowa.
