Label Lookout, a semi-regular series at KRUI highlighting a few exciting contemporary record labels and what they have to offer. Here we feature six of the station’s favorite labels in this Spring ’24 Edition.

In a game that could have been over once Jacob Hillyer caught a 21-yard touchdown with 1:54 left in the 1st quarter, the Iowa Hawkeyes chased the Western Michigan Broncos out of Kinnick Stadium with a 59-3 victory. Western Michigan had won the previous two matchups in Iowa City but the Hawkeyes made sure the streak would end today. Iowa is now 3-1 heading into their Big Ten Conference opener in Minnesota next Saturday. Kevonte Martin-Manley led the rout with 184 total punt return yards. The game was much closer than the final score of 75-63 might have indicated. The Hawkeyes seemed unable to pull away from the Stony Brook Seawolves, but the fans are not going to remember the somewhat sloppy play of the Hawkeyes. They will only remember the outcome, which results in Iowa’s third trip to the NIT Quarterfinal round in matchup with either Virginia or St. John’s. Rushing the court after an important basketball has become a right of passage for many college students. It gives the fans the ability to feel like they were an actual part of the game and the outcome. For many fans, it allows for a catharsis of sorts after a disappointing season or for supporting a team that has been underperforming.
