Jake Duzey grabs the Spotlight!

Work hard, Play harder!

It was a long day for Hawkeye fans but in the end the Hawks came out on top with Duzey having the Game winning 12 yard touchdown with one minute left.

Jake Duzey is a junior Tight End at Iowa from Michigan who stands 6’4 and weights 245. He has pretty good speed for a route running TE. His Freshman year his role was very small behind C.J. Fiedorowicz, last year his role expanded and he recorded 19 receptions for 270 yards and two Touchdowns.

He had seven catches last week providing solid hands for Ruddock to pass to. With his three catches for 26 yards and the Game winning Touchdown, which he made a great adjustment to jumping and reaching behind while never break stride on his scamper to the endzone. That brings his season total to 10 catches half of his total from last year in just two games! This year he has really come into his own and we should continue to see a lot of him.

After the game I asked him specifically about the defensive play of his team,  Duzey said ” The defense gave us plenty of chances and we used their play to stay calm and together as a team.”
