Hawkeye Field Hockey Continues Winning Streak

The Hawkeyes have continued their winning streak to 5 games Sunday, defeating the Miami-Ohio Redhawks  3-1 on the road.

Sophomore Natalie Cafone lead all in scoring, with an unassisted 2 goals that gave the Hawkeyes all the offense they needed, as Goalkeeper Kelsey Boyce recorded 5 saves. Sara Watro also recorded an assisted goal late in the 3rd, responding to Miami’s-Ohio Ali Frode’s goal in the third, to put the game away late.

The Hawkeyes controlled the pace, keeping Miami-Ohio to only 7 shots on goal, where as Iowa doubled that with 14. Iowa controlled the pace of the game and delivered on all cylinders. “It was a great team win with all lines contributing,” said Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum.

Iowa is now 18th in the country, as they look to improve their national ranking this Friday, as they host Penn State.

Natalie Cafone’s (above) 2 goals propel the hawks to a 3-1 win Friday.
