Iowa City’s Mission Creek Festival Adds Kimya Dawson, Caroline Smith & the Goodnight Sleeps, Lulacruza, and More to Lineup

Featuring: The Magnetic Fields, David Cross, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, William Elliott Whitmore, Justin Townes Earle, Tim Hecker, Black Milk, Sharon Van Etten, Bowerbirds, and many more.

The seventh annual Mission Creek Festival returns March 27-April 1, 2012. The six-day celebration takes over the venues and art spaces in downtown Iowa City, creating an easily navigated collection of music, literature, and art.

Iowa City’s Mission Creek Festival is excited to announce additional artists playing this year’s festival. The latest batch of performers includes Kimya Dawson, Caroline Smith & the Goodnight Sleeps, Lulacruza, and a strong group of local favorite acts.

Kimya Dawson is a singer-songwriter, known for her work as a solo performer and as half of the folk duo The Moldy Peaches. Dawson’s songs were featured predominately in the Grammy winning soundtrack to the film Juno. Minneapolis-based Caroline Smith & the Goodnight Sleeps are familiar to the Iowa City music scene. They are touring in support their sophomore album Little Wind. Lulacruza, a folk-electronica act, comes from Argentina and Columbia, adding a distinct South American sound to the festival lineup.

All-Access Passes ($115) are currently available for purchase online at Midwestix and the Englert Theatre Box Office in downtown Iowa City. Tickets to individual shows are available at Midwestix and at the respective venues.
